Sensol Systems is redefining the crosswalk industry.

Over 300,000 pedestrians die crossing the street globally each year, and over 75% of these deaths occurred during low visibility conditions.

Sensol illuminates a pedestrian’s exact location from below to increase visibility and save lives.

The Problem
A pedestrian is killed every 88 minutes on average in traffic crashes in the U.S. In 2018 alone, more than 6,000 pedestrians died in vehicle accidents – the highest number in nearly 30 years. Despite government efforts to increase pedestrian safety, these numbers continue to grow. Sensol offers an affordable and effective solution that can adapt to smart city infrastructure and autonomous vehicle technology.

Our Solution
Our crosswalk reliably detects pedestrians before and while they cross the road by illuminating their exact location. Illumination visually alerts drivers of crossing pedestrians, and signals are sent to autonomous vehicles as an additional safety precaution. Furthermore, our crosswalk tracks pedestrian and vehicle movement, to inform future city planning.

Our Data
Our data collects key metrics extrapolated from our crosswalk hardware to inform future city planning. Key metrics include; the speed of vehicles when crossing our hardware, dense traffic intervals for both pedestrians and vehicles, and more information. In addition to informing city planning our data can be useful for traffic engineers in optimizing the time intervals of traffic signals.
